RSKTV

Updating the app

On Android TV, Fire TV and Android, the app checks for new versions itself and offers to install them: no need to go back through Downloader. On Samsung and LG TVs, updates come through the TV’s store. An update touches neither your activation nor your playlists.

Checking your version and looking for an update

On Android TV, Google TV, Fire TV and Android phones:

  1. Open Settings › Updates.
  2. The installed version is shown, with the date of the last check.
  3. Choose Check for updates. If a newer version exists, it is shown: choose Install now.
  4. Android then opens its own window, where Cancel is preselected: move to Install before confirming.

Updates arrive on their own

You do not have to check yourself: when a new version is published, the app offers it on screen. Some are marked as required: they fix an important problem, so install them as soon as they appear.

Before installing, the app checks that the downloaded file is exactly the one we published. If it does not match — a damaged download, or one altered on the way — the installation is cancelled.

Samsung, LG and Apple TV

On these devices the app comes from the TV’s store or the App Store, which installs new versions itself. Keep automatic app updates turned on in the device settings to receive them without thinking about it.

If the update gets stuck

Frequently asked questions

Does an update erase my playlists?

No. Your activation and your playlists are tied to your device, not to the installed file: they are still there after the update.

Do I go back through Downloader for each version?

No. Downloader is only for the first installation; after that, the app updates itself.

Why is an update required?

Because it fixes a problem that stops the app from working properly, or that affects its security. It installs like any other.
